Getting $RIO for Transacting within Districts

The highly anticipated Districts LandRush has officially begun! Now's your chance to claim your spot in this open-source virtual world modeled after Earth. Built on the innovative Realio Network, Districts leverages Native $RIO—the essential gas and utility token powering transactions and dApps.

The $RIO bridge is now live in Districts, making it easier than ever to get started.

Follow this guide to ensure you're ready to transact within Districts today!

Quick Note: Preferred Bridging Method – Districts In‑App Bridge
If you hold $RIO on BNB or Ethereum, the easiest and preferred way to transfer it to Native to prepare for LandRush is to use the Districts in‑app bridge.

Connect your Web3 wallet (e.g., MetaMask) to the Districts platform and follow the prompts to bridge to Native $RIO on the Realio Network. (See Step 2 below for complete instructions)

If your $RIO is on Solana, Algorand, or Stellar, you must send your tokens to the Realio Platform to bridge to Native $RIO. (See Step 3 below for complete instructions)

What You Need:

To claim a Land Pixel, you’ll need:

✅ 5,000 Native $RIO (plus gas fees)

✅ EVM-Compatible Web3 Wallet to connect to Districts (e.g., MetaMask)

Step 0: Determine Your Starting Point

Do you already have 5,000 Native $RIO?

Do you have 5,000 $RIO on on the Ethereum or BNB network?

Do you have 5,000 $RIO on the Solana, Algorand, or Stellar network?

Do you not have any $RIO?

  • You’ll need to get $RIO first (Step 1), then bridge it to the Native Realio Network (Step 2 or Step 3, depending on the chain).

Step 1: Acquire $RIO Tokens

Choose the method that works best for you:

1. Get $RIO on a Major Exchange.

2. Use a Decentralized Exchange (DEX).

For a full list of examples of where to get $RIO, click here.

Once you have non-native $RIO in your external wallet (e.g., KuCoin, MEXC, MetaMask), you’ll need to either use the Districts In‑App Bridge or send it to your Realio Platform wallet to use the bridge and convert it into Native $RIO. The next section will walk you through the bridging process.

Step 2: Bridge $RIO on BNB & Ethereum to Native in Districts

Preferred Method: Districts In‑App Bridge (BNB & Ethereum Only)

If your $RIO is on Solana, Algorand, or Stellar, see Step 3.

If your $RIO is currently on BNB Chain or Ethereum, you can bridge directly within the Districts platform by following these steps:

1. Connect your Web3 Wallet

  • On the Districts platform, click the “Connect Wallet” button at the top right to connect your MetaMask (or another EVM-compatible wallet).

2. Click “Bridge”

  • In the wallet dropdown menu, select the Bridge button.

3. Choose Networks

  • Set the From network to either BNB Chain or Ethereum.
  • Set the To network as Realio Network.

4. Select Token and Amount

  • Choose $RIO or $DSTRX and enter the amount you wish to bridge.

5. Click Continue and Confirm

  • Review the details provided and click “Confirm” to complete the bridging process.

To see how the bridge works, watch our Bridging tutorial video click here.

Step 3: Bridge $RIO on All Other Chains BUT Ethereum and BNB to Native on the Realio Platform

If your $RIO is currently on a non-native network (e.g., Solana, Algorand, Stellar), you’ll need to bridge it onto the Native Realio Network:

1. Send Non-Native $RIO to Your Realio Platform Wallet

  • For a guide on how to send tokens to your Realio Platform Wallet, click here.

💡Always do a small test transaction first to ensure the transfer goes through correctly.

2. Complete KYC on the Realio Platform (If Required)

  • For a guide on completing KYC verification on the Realio Platform, click here.

3. Use the Cross-Chain Swap feature in your Realio Wallet to Bridge to Native $RIO

  • For a guide on bridging $RIO tokens in your Realio Platform Wallet, click here.

Step 4: Add Realio Network to Your Web3 Wallet & Send Native $RIO

The Realio Network is a Layer-1 blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK and has full EVM compatibility.

IMPORTANT:

On the Realio Network, every account has two address formats—an “EVM Address” (starts with 0x) and a “Native Realio Network Address” (starts with realio1).

Both formats belong to the same account (they share the same mnemonic/seed phrase), but each format is used for different parts of the Realio Network:

  • Native Address (realio1...) – How your Realio account is displayed on the Cosmos side of the chain

Examples: Realio Platform Native wallet address or other Cosmos-compatible wallets such as Keplr Wallet.

  • Realio EVM Address (0x...) – How your Realio account is displayed in EVM wallets

Examples: MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet.

Even when you transfer tokens from a Native (realio1) address to an EVM (0x) address, the transaction occurs entirely on the Realio Network. It’s just two ways of viewing the same account on different layers.

1. Add the Realio Network to Your Web3 Wallet

  • To view and manage Native $RIO in any EVM-compatible Web3 wallet, you need to add the Realio Network as a custom network.
  • For a guide on how to add the Realio Network to MetaMask Wallet, click here.

💡For instructions on adding custom networks to other EVM-compatible wallets, refer to their official guides.

2. Send Native $RIO to Your Web3 Wallet

  • From the Realio Platform Wallet (or another wallet holding your Native RIO), send to your 0x... MetaMask or other Web3 wallet address
  • For a guide on how to send tokens from your Realio Platform Wallet, click here.

💡Always do a small test transaction first to make sure the transfer goes through correctly.

3. Confirm Your $RIO Balance

  • After the transaction is confirmed, ensure your EVM wallet is connected to the Realio Network, your EVM wallet should display your Native $RIO balance.
  • Remember, it’s the same Native $RIO on the Realio Chain—now accessible through your EVM address for interacting with the EVM layer.

You’re now ready to use your Native $RIO in Districts! 🚀
